    Fall Gardening

TBA

The Fall Garden is almost more beautiful than the Summer Garden.  While the leaves of the trees are molting and the colors turn drab, greens are flourishing in the cooler temperatures of a Fall Garden.  This workshop will teach you the best crops to grow in the fall.  Learn how to plan a small perinneal bed with herbs, flowers, and bulbs to enjoy for many seasons to come.

Accommodations available.

Bat House Workshop

Did you know?...A single brown bat can eat up to 1,000 mosquitoes in one hour.

There are many designs for a bat house.  Our goal is to make a bat house that mimics the space between bark and a tree trunk.  Help Heartwood assemble Bat Houses for our flying mammalian brothers and sisters.

 Summer Harvest Day Camp

July 1st & 2nd

Harvest time, the most enjoyable part of gardening. We'll spend the morning session walking through the garden identifying the crops.  Armed with baskets we will harvest tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and many other garden treats.  We will also take a walk to identify wild edibles like blackberries.   Students will enjoy the Sunflower House planted and tended in the previous Kid Camps and Workshops.  Parent participation encouraged, but not required.  However, a $20 suggested donation per day per child is requested for unattended children.
